Cosby Drops Contract Claim Against Accuser

(CN) - Bill Cosby on dropped his breach-of-contract claim Thursday against Andrea Constand, the woman he is accused of sexually assaulting in Pennsylvania.

The terse, 2-page filing says only "Plaintiff William H. Cosby Jr. hereby voluntarily dismisses the above-captioned action without prejudice."

Cosby sued Constand in February, after he was criminally charged with allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting her at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, mansion in January 2004.

The end of the lawsuit comes a little over a week after a federal judge handed a Cosby a partial victory, ruling he can pursue claims against Constand for Tweets he claims violated a confidentiality agreement that was part of a 2006 settlement agreement between the two,

Cosby's attorney Angela Argusa issued a statement noting: "Last week, Judge Robreno denied in substantial art the motions to dismissed filed by American Media, Inc., Andrea Constand, and her lawyers.

"With a court validation of his ability to proceed forward in that action to protect his own rights, Mr. Cosby has today stepped away from that suit and will instead focus his efforts on defendning himself against the claims that have been lodged against him," the statement continued.
