Corrupt Border Patrolman|Gets 6 1/2 Years in Prison

SAN DIEGO (CN) - A former border patrolman was sentenced Monday to 6 1/2 years in federal prison for taking bribes to let people enter the country illegally.

Hector Rodriguez, 45, of San Diego, also was ordered to forfeit a 2009 Jaguar, five Rolexes, cash, TVs and computers he bought from his criminal proceeds, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

Two of Rodriguez's accomplices also were sentenced Monday.

Gerardo Rodriguez, 42, of Chula Vista, got five years in federal prison and must forfeit a 2005 Mercedes, a 2006 Harley Davidson, $60,000, televisions and computers.

Maria Guerrero, 39, of Chula Vista, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison and fined $40,000.

Hector Rodriguez admitted he tool bribes from his co-defendants to let undocumented people into the United States through his inspection lane at San Ysidro.

On the day they were arrested, July 13, 2012, Gerardo Rodriguez drove eight undocumented people through the lane, and defendant Vanessa Moya drove another vehicle with six people in it.

Moya was sentenced in May to probation and fined $2,500.
