Cops Say Kidnappers Snared the Wrong Guy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CN) - Three western Missouri men kidnapped the wrong guy in New Jersey, authorities say. They are being held without bond.

Douglas Stangeland, 46, of Nevada, Mo., Lonnie Swarnes, 44, and Andrew Wadel, 21, both of Rich Hill, are charged with first-degree kidnapping. Authorities say none of the men have attorneys.

The men allegedly approached 59-year-old Jeff Muller, of Newton, N.J., outside his pet store Friday and asked him if he was Jeff Muller. Authorities say that when Muller replied yes, the three shot him with a stun gun, tied his hands and feet and drove him to Missouri.

Authorities did not say why the men were looking for a Jeff Muller, only that they believed they got the wrong guy.
