Cops off the hook for raiding wrong house

NEW ORLEANS — The Fifth Circuit reversed a Texas federal court’s denial of summary judgment to police officers who raided the wrong house, setting off flashbangs, breaking windows and the front door of an innocent homeowner. The lead officer’s efforts to identify the correct address were deficient, but the behavior did not violate clearly established law.
