Cops Arrested Wrong Woman On TV, Suit Claims

NASHVILLE (CN) - WZTV-Fox News broadcast footage of the wrong woman being arrested and handcuffed in front of her home as part of the U.S. Marshals Service's "Operation Falcon III," Paula Milligan and her husband claim in Davidson County Court.

Milligan claims she was mistakenly caught up in an arrest spree planned by federal, state and local law enforcement officers. Four U.S. marshals and deputy marshals and two Metro Nashville police officers were sent to arrest a 24-year-old Paula Milligan of Greensboro, N.C., who was described as being 5 foot 3 with blue eyes. Instead, they arrested the plaintiff, 42, who lives in Tennessee, is 5 foot 6 and has brown eyes. She claims the officers never bothered to look at the suspect's photograph before handcuffing her while WZTV cameras were rolling.

For a few hours, Milligan was "handcuffed to a long chain with several other male and female prisoners and paraded from one city of Nashville building to another." The Fox broadcast of her arrest for alleged forgery was stigmatizing for her career as a financial officer.
