Cop will face criminal and civil cases over abuse

RENO, Nev. — A Nevada federal court denied Reno’s motion to stay two women’s civil rights lawsuit against it and a police officer who allegedly obtained their phone numbers during traffic stops and abused his position to access intimate photos and videos of them. He is facing criminal proceedings related to his actions and invoked his Fifth Amendment right in response to this suit, but the court determined that other factors weigh more heavily against a stay than his Fifth Amendment privilege weighs in favor of it.
