Convicted Mobsters Face Life in Prison for Murders

(CN) - A former mob boss and two associates of the Genovese crime family were convicted Friday of multiple murders, loansharking schemes, extortion and other charges in Manhattan's District Court following a three-week jury trial.

Former acting boss Arthur Nigro and brothers Fotios and Ty Geas face mandatory life sentences for their convictions, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Prosecutors said Nigro ordered the 2003 shooting death of Adolfo Bruno in Springfield, Mass., and the attempted murder of union boss Frank Dadabo, who survived being shot nine times. The brothers were also convicted of killing Gary Westerman, a man with mob ties who they believed was cooperating with the Massachusetts State Police. Westerman's remains were found last year.

In addition to murder and murder conspiracy, the three men were convicted of racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, extortion and loansharking. They are scheduled for sentencing in June.
