Connecticut Ethics Commissioner Says Republicans Had It In For Him

HARTFORD (CN) - The Connecticut Office of State Ethics illegally fired its Executive Director and General Counsel Alan Plofsky in retaliation for his criticism of former Gov. John Rowland, who later was convicted of federal corruption charges, Plofsky claims in Federal Court.

He says Rowland's board of Republican appointees intended to, and did, frustrate the commission's assistance to state and federal investigations of Rowland. Plofsky says that after he won an administrative appeal of his firing he was assigned to a less responsible position as an attorney in the state attorney general's consumer office. He demands punitive damages for retaliation and constitutional violations. See complaint.
