Connecticut Accuses Florida Firm of Scam

HARTFORD (CN) - A Florida-based company is conning Connecticut consumers by sending them checks for $3.25 and claiming that anyone who cashes it has agreed to a binding, paid contract for listings in an online phone directory, the State of Connecticut claims in Superior Court. It says USDirectory.com, based in Boca Raton, has sent "millions" of these bogus "activation checks."
