LAS VEGAS (CN) - Former "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" host Robin Leach and two Las Vegas show producers say they and 500 others were suckered into buying condos at the unfinished Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino on the Strip.
Leach, Norbert Aleman and Jeff Gitlin claim in their class action that they were misled into believing the high-rise would open by the end of 2008. The project now is set for completion sometime in 2010, "at least two years beyond what was promised," according to the lawsuit in Clark County Court.
Defendants include former Cosmopolitan owner 3700 Associates and Deutsche Bank, which foreclosed on $900 million in construction loans to 3700 Associates last year, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
Nevada Property 1, which also is named in the suit, is a Deutsche Bank affiliate and now has "all or part ownership of the Cosmopolitan."
The men want their contracts rescinded, their deposits returned, and damages for breach of contract, fraud and conversion.
Leach hosted "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" in the '80s. He lives in Las Vegas, and writes a blog for a local media outlet.
Aleman created "Crazy Girls" and "An Evening at La Cage." Gitlin produces "Tony n' Tina's Wedding."
The men are represented by Thomas Girardi with Girardi Keese.
