Computer Hacker Gets Year and a Day

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A 25-year-old member of the LulzSec hacking group was sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in prison for a hacking attack on Sony Pictures.

Cody Andrew Kretsinger also was ordered to serve a year of home detention after he does his time, 1,000 hours of community service, and to pay $605,663 in restitution.

Kretsinger, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Decatur, Ill., pleaded guilty a year ago to conspiracy and unauthorized use of a protected computer, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement announcing his sentence.

Kretsinger and others got confidential information from Sony Pictures' computer systems by using an "SQL injection" attack against a Sony website, then posted the stolen data on the Internet, including names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses for tens of thousands of Sony customers, prosecutors said.

LulzSec is loosely affiliated with the "Anonymous" hackers, according to the U.S. attorney.

Another member of Lulz Sec, Raynaldo Rivera, 20, of Chandler, Ariz., will be sentenced on May 16 for his part in the hack attack.
