Computer Game Co. Goes After Poker Chip Sellers

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Computer game company Zynga says people are selling virtual poker chips for real money without its permission. Zynga had filed seven federal complaints alleging trademark violations, unfair competition and interference with contract.

Zynga Game Networks issues players virtual poker chips to use in its online games such as Texas Hold 'em. It sued numerous individuals, one of whom, a John Doe, sells the chips through the Web site Cheerchips.blogspot.com. Zynga says the defendants sell chips to use in its online games "at prices that are substantially lower than the prices paid by users who obtain their 'chips' from Zynga."

Zynga demands an injunction, punitive damages and costs. It represented by Dennis Wilson with Keats, McFarland and Wilson of Beverly Hills.
