QUEENS, N.Y. (CN) - A communications company demands $500 million from a high-rise apartment building, claims that for the second North Shore Towers Apartments breached a lease in bad faith, interfering with rooftop communications equipment that serve FCC-licensed broadcasters and the FBI's radio communications on Long Island.
Plaintiff Continental Communications claims this is the second time the North Shore Towers has breached its obligations under the long-term lease by failing to cooperate with the permitting process. It says the Queens County Court ordered North Shore in 2000 to cooperate with Continental and execute all terms of the lease, which has 77 years remaining.
Continental says the communications equipment is essential not only for the FBI. But for the IRS, the Customs Service, the Secret Service, the U.S. Marshals, the New York City Fire Department, and other emergency responders.
Continental demands $500 million, and a little cooperation. It is represented in Queens County Court by Simon Rothkrug of Great Neck.
