DavCo Restaurants, which operates 159 Wendy's restaurants, has sued Wendy's International, demanding the right to serve Pepsi drinks, in Columbus, Ohio, Federal Court.

Kearney, Neb.-based Barista's and Friends dba Barista's Daily Grind, and its officers Steven Sickler and Cathy Mettenbrink aka Cathy Shelton cheat franchisees, whom they charge a typical initial fee of $40,000, the USA claims in Omaha Federal Court.

Tillman Gerngross posed as a Dartmouth professor to buy the Pichia pastoris (yeast) gene sequence from Integrated Genomics at the discounted academic price and used it for commercial purposes at Glycofi, which was sold to Merck, which profits from it illegally, IG claims in Chicago Federal Court. It sued only Gerngross.

The SEC claims Urs Kamber, Stephan Husi and Richard Jon May juggled the books and profited illegally from it as officers of Centerpulse, in DC Federal Court.

Cypress Semiconductor claims its former employee, Sipex Corp. CEO Ralph Schmitt, swiped trade secrets on integrated circuits and took them to his new job, to compete unfairly. Cypress demands punitive damages and also sues Exar Corp., which Sipex merged into, in Santa Clara County Court.
