Comic Eddie Griffin Accused Of Assault

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A production manager claims comedian Eddie Griffin got drunk on the set of a TV pilot and beat him mercilessly, with help from his bodyguard, a professional heavyweight boxer. Griffin was upset over motel accomodations for his mother, says the complaint, and he accused the production manager of treating her like a "ghetto Mamma on junior prom night just waiting to get slammed."

Vince Beane sued Griffin and The Leslie Greif Co. for assault and battery in Superior Court.

Beane claims Griffin and his posse beat him on March 10 on a TV stage in Marina del Rey, after he was "wrongfully accused of 'disrespecting [Eddie Griffin's] Momma and treating her like a slave nigga, [sic]". (All brackets in complaint.)

The complaint continues: "Plaintiff was a production manager on the set and worked diligently to maintain professionalism, efficiency and order. After recklessly filling Eddie Griffin and others with more than six bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, the Leslie Greif Company negligently failed to advise Vince bean of the violent propensity of the inebriated Eddie Griffin and his short and uneasy temper of which they were well aware and encouraged in hopes it would enhance his outrageous behavior."

Beane claims Griffin "instructed his bodyguard, a professional heavyweight boxer and menacing figure named John 'J.C.' Clark to intimidate, threaten and otherwise harass plaintiff" and to assault him with "offensive bodily contact".

Griffin apparently felt offended that Beane did not reserve a nice enough hotel room for the comic's mother. Beane says the Leslie Greif Company asked him to make a reservation for Griffin's mother at "any cheap 3 star hotel."

"Apparently, the lodging set up by Mr. Beane was deemed unsatisfactory by Griffin and his mother," the complaint states. Beane says Griffin told him, "'You are Vince, you are that mutha fucka [sic] who got my momma that fucked-up-ass hotel room.'" He says Griffin accused him "of treating Eddie Griffin's mother like a '... ghetto Mamma on junior prom night just waiting to get slammed.'"

Untrue, says Beane. "In reality, plaintiff did exactly as he was directed to do by the Leslie Greif Company."

Beane demands punitive damages. He is represented by Keith Davidson of Beverly Hills.
