GALVESTON (CN) - San Angelo State football player Justin Carter claims he was banned from NCAA competition because he took Phera-Plex, which Anabolic Resources and Designer Supplements falsely advertised as steroid-free. He says it contains the banned steroid Madol.
Carter claims the substance is listed on the bottle as 17(alpha)-Methyletioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol. He says he checked the NCAA-recommended "Drug Free Sports" Web site to see if that chemical or Phera-Plex were listed as banned. He says they were not.
He says that the so-called "17(alpha)-Methyletioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol" was tested and turned out to be Madol, or 17(alpha) methyl-5(alpha)-androst-2-en-17(beta)-ol - a steroid.
He says there is no way he could be expected to know that 17(alpha)-Methyletioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol is a steroid, and now his collegiate football career is over. He demands punitive damages, in Galveston County Court.
