BOSTON — The First Circuit ruled that the U.S. District Court for Rhode Island properly approved an amended settlement agreement between Brown University and a class of women student-athletes who claimed the university’s decision in June 2020 to eliminate certain varsity teams and upgrade sailing to varsity status violated a 1998 consent agreement.
