College Exec Abused His Power for Sex,|and His Daddy Is the CEO, Woman Says

VENTURA, Calif. (CN) - The campus director of the Career Care Institute, the son of the college CEO, forced a student to give him a blow job in a parking lot under threat of kicking her out of school, and sexually harassed other students and teachers, a woman claims in Superior Court.

The woman sued the school only, not her alleged molester Shawn Carrasco or his father, Edmund Carrasco. She claims she completed the dental assistant program but Shawn Carrasco denied her the certificate she had earned.

According to the complaint, she met Carrasco when he called her to his office and leveled a bogus complaint against her "regarding her conduct in class."

She claims Carrasco "scolded her" and gave her a "disciplinary memo placing her on probation," and did so "every day for a week."

After a break, he "abruptly started it up again," mentioning the same "false issues and fabrications," and giving her disciplinary memos "which threatened removal from the program," according to the complaint.

The woman, who has a young child, says Carrasco transferred her from evening class to a morning class, which he "well knew" she could not attend because of child care issues.

She says when she pleaded to remain in the night class, "Shawn Carrasco asked her how badly she wanted it and what she was willing to do for it. She said she would be on time and would do well in school. He said, 'No, listen to me, what are you willing to do for it?' She was stunned, and she said, 'I guess I can do anything under my means that I can do.' He than had her meet him at her car in the parking lot, where plaintiff asked if he did all of the office visits, discipline, and then changing her class to an impossible time just to get her to have sex with him. He denied it, saying he was going to let her back in the evening class and her paperwork was already done, and 'If you don't do anything today, it's OK, you are going to be in evening class tomorrow.' Plaintiff replied, "Really, good, OK, bye.' He was irritated and said, 'No.' ... Then he took out his penis. After receiving oral sex, he got out and walked back to the building."

She says that Carrasco then "would pursue her with text messages while she was in class," despite her efforts to avoid him and telling him to "leave me alone."

"Plaintiff felt she had to do what he wanted to finish school and did not want to make Shawn Carrasco angry. So she met him. He wanted to touch her, she said no and said, 'You got what you wanted. You need to stop. You're married. I can't expect anything.' He replied, 'No, you can expect a lot. I can make it worth your while.' He said he would pay her tuition. She flatly declined. He continued to pressure her and got her to let him kiss and touch her.

"There were several incidents like that, continuing for about a month and a half until she finished school, by which point plaintiff was dreading going to school for anything."

The complaint adds: "Plaintiff subsequently found that she was unable to get of bed in the morning for her externship and to send her son off to school. She had no motivation and did not want to get out of bed. She gained 25 to 30 pounds. She has been very depressed and has had thoughts of suicide. Plaintiff is undergoing a course of psychological treatment for her injuries.

"Shawn Carrasco has sexually harassed several others who were students or teachers at CCI and this is well-known to Edmund Carrasco, defendant CCI's C.E.O., who is his father, and in each case Shawn Carrasco engaged in quid pro quo sexual harassment and hostile environment sexual harassment.

"Despite such repeated wrongful conduct by Shawn Carrasco, defendant CCI continued to retain him in his employment in disregard for his propensity."

She seeks punitive damages for quid pro quo sexual harassment, retaliation, and hostile environment sexual harassment. She is represented by Samuel Galici.
