SACRAMENTO (CN) - The University of the Pacific, in Stockton, refused to discipline basketball team members who raped a student, and said her rapists "were victims as well," Jane Doe claims in Federal Court. She says the college knew that team members recently had sexually assaulted another woman or women at the same place where she was raped, but failed to warn, failed to investigate, and failed to discipline the rapists.
Jane Doe says she had to leave the University of the Pacific because of its indifference. She demands punitive damages and wants the college ordered to institute a sexual harassment program. She is represented by Ivo Labar with Kerr & Wagstaffe of San Francisco and the Victim Justice Initiative of San Francisco.
