Collector Wants His Antique Guns Back

PORTLAND, Ore. (CN) - A man claims two pawnshops bought 43 of his antique guns from the man who stole them, and refuse to return them. Most of the guns, from the 1800s, are so old they lack serial numbers, according to the federal complaint.

Plaintiff John Carughi is in Iraq working as a contractor with the U.S. military, according to the complaint. He sued The Money Market, an assumed business name of Woo Shin (Peter) Lim, and Beaverton Pawn dba Hillsboro Pawn.

Carughi says he knows who stole the guns, and that the man is living in Box Elder County, Utah.

He says that the stolen guns "are of such distinction and extraordinary rarity that the descriptions set forth below are sufficient to allow identification of the firearms with reasonable specificity."

The guns include an 1855 Colt revolving rifle, a Sharps carbine marked by the Texas Rangers, a Sharps 4-barrel derringer with carved ivory grips, pistols with carved silver and ivory grips and other treasures, including a cased pair of Andres Kuchenreuter dueling pistols.Carughi wants his guns back.
