Clinton Hospitalized

WASHINGTON (CN) - Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized Thursday in New York and had a "procedure" to clear a blocked artery. Clinton, 63, was expected to be released today and to return to work Monday.

After having two stents placed into his coronary artery, Clinton - who heads the United Nation's special envoy to earthquake-struck Haiti - is doing well and plans to refocus on his work there, the New York Times reported.

Clinton underwent quadruple coronary artery bypass surgery in 2004 after complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath, similar symptoms to those he felt Thursday.

Clinton told the New York Times last year that he has been concerned about his health ever since the operation, andthat he has more difficulty in carrying on a rough political schedule.

Clinton was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital after returning from his work in Haiti a few days ago.
