Big Oil Off the Hook

A federal judge dismissed a California lawsuit against BP, Exxon, and three other big oil companies for lack of jurisdiction, finding their actions in the state were not sufficiently linked to the worldwide problem of climate change.

SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge dismissed a California lawsuit against BP, Exxon, and three other big oil companies Friday for lack of jurisdiction, finding their actions in the state were not sufficiently linked to the worldwide problem of climate change.

Previously, the same judge dismissed the case on grounds that it would be "unfair" to force oil and gas companies to shoulder the blame for global warming.
