Class Says Countrywide Colluded|With KB Home To Duck The Law

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - KB Home and Countrywide Home Loans formed Countrywide KB Home Loans to circumvent Section 8 prohibitions on collusion and kickbacks, a class action claims in Federal Court. For illegal kickbacks, KB referred customers to Countrywide and its subsidiary, defendant Landsafe, for "predetermined appraisals," the plaintiffs claim.

Plaintiffs demand restitution and treble damages. They are represented by Peter Fredman with Brayton Purcell of Novato.
