Class Of Customers Sues DirectBuy

HARTFORD (CN) – An antitrust class action accuses DirectBuy of charging thousands of dollars for membership in a “buying club” that falsely promises “direct prices” for items such as furniture and appliances – i.e., the “price paid by manufacturers or suppliers.” It’s a lie because DirectBuy gets “tens of millions of dollars in kickbacks” from the manufacturers and suppliers, the class claims in Federal Court.

DirectBuy is based in Indiana and also operates under the name of the United Consumers Club, the complaint states.
Named plaintiffs Debra and Robert Ponzi demand restitution, disgorgement and punitive damages. Their lead counsel is Seth Klein with Izard Nobel.
