Class Claims Lockheed Martin Exposed Them|To Radiation & Destroyed Evidence

COLUMBUS, Ohio (CN) - Lockheed Martin Utility Services exposed workers to radiation at a gaseous uranium diffusion plant and altered or destroyed the badges that record employees' exposure, a class action claims in Federal Court.

The complaint states: "This is a claim filed both individually on behalf of Jeff Walburn and as a class action on behalf of employees of Defendant whose records of exposure to radiation as measured by Defendant's dosimetry program have been altered or destroyed by Defendant," the complaint states. "Defendant has a dosimetry program that consists of badges worn by employees that measure the dosages of radiation that the employees are exposed to, collects the measurements of radiation, and enters the measurements into Defendant's computer system. ...

"The Class is comprised of past and present employees of Defendant at the gaseous uranium diffusion plant at Piketon, Ohio who were covered and participated in Defendant's dosimetry program. The Class is comprised of the following subclasses: a. The Personal Injury Subclass, which consists of all employees of Defendant that were covered by Defendant's dosimetry program and were exposed to radiation. b. The Medical Monitoring Subclass, which consists of all employees who participated in the dosimetry program who seek medical monitoring based upon exposure to radiation at the gaseous uranium diffusion plant at Piketon, Ohio."

Plaintiffs are represented by Steve Edwards of Grove City, Ohio.
