Class Claims Email Filter Company|’Stole From Its Own Customers’

MANHATTAN (CN) - Incredimail double-billed customers for its email filters, a class action claims in Federal Court. The class claims the Israel-based company "gave away" a basic "IncrediMail" filter, then sold a $29.95 lifetime upgrade called "JunkFilter" that worked with Microsoft Outlook. Then, the class claims, IncrediMail said customers had to install a "necessary update," which disabled the lifetime subscription and forced them to pay annual fees.

Named plaintiff Mark Lucas says the class contains 900,000 members. He says IncrediMail "stole from its own customers." It "sold a product then stole it back from its own customers as part of a scheme to sell it back to them again".

He wants his lifetime subscription restored, an injunction and punitive damages. Lead counsel is Scott Bursor.
