Class Calls Subprime Auto Lender a Predator

FORT LAUDERDALE (CN) - California-based United Auto Credit Corp., a subprime auto lender, makes loans at predatory rates and then repossesses cars illegally, a class action claims in Broward County Court. The named plaintiff claims United charged him "the predatory rate of 24%" interest and then repossessed his car, and "hundreds of other" Floridians' cars illegally.

United allegedly failed to make required disclosures, and tried to collect and report delinquencies illegally. The class is represented by Robert Murphy.
