Class Calls GE Microwaves Defective

HARTFORD (CN) – General Electric has known since 2000 that its JMV Series “Spacemaker” microwave ovens are defective, but GE refuses to repair or replace them, a class action claims in Federal Court.     The class claims the ovens’ magnetron, which converts electricity into microwaves, breaks down under normal operating conditions, rendering the ovens useless.     Plaintiffs want the ovens recalled, and damages. Their lead counsel is Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah of Chester, Conn.
