PAINESVILLE, OHIO (CN) - More than 200 people who were evacuated after a CSX Transportation train derailed on Oct. 10, burning and releasing toxic black smoke, have filed a class-action complaint against CSX in Lake County Court.
The train spilled ethanol, propane, phthalic anhydride and other chemicals that burned for more than a day. The class of people and businesses within one-half mile of the track demands medical monitoring and damages for injuries, property loss and damage, emotional distress, pain and suffering, economic damage, expenses, and damages for negligence and recklessness. They are represented by Dworken & Bernstein of Painesville. See complaint.
