Class Action Alleges Intuit & H&R Block| Lead A Tax Software Cartel

PHILADELPHIA (CN) - A federal class action complaint claims Intuit and H&R Block lead an enormous "tax software industry cartel" known as the defendant Free File Alliance, which reaped billions of dollars by charging taxpayers fees to file electronic tax returns with the IRS. "Cartel members were able to charge these illegal fees because, at the Cartel's behest, the IRS requires taxpayers and tax preparers to electronically file returns through members of the Cartel, instead of directly with the government," the complaint states.
