Class Action Accuses Countrywide Of Cheating Homebuyers

KNOXVILLE (CN) - Countrywide Home Loans faces another federal class-action complaint. This one accuses the lender of defrauding homebuyers by demanding extra money on monthly mortgage payments, crediting too much money to interest and not enough to principal to make it appear that the plaintiffs were in arrears, and then threatening them with foreclosure.

The class period runs from Sept. 1, 2001 through March 18, 2005. Also sued in Countrywide Home Loans Servicing. Plaintiffs are represented by Richard Baker.See complaint.
