Claim Jumper Files for Chapter 11

WILMINGTON, Del. (CN) - Claim Jumper Restaurants, a California-based chain known for its giant portions, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Friday, listing more than $115 million in debts and less than $100 million in assets. Irvine-based Claim Jumper, which operates 45 restaurants in eight Western states, is expected to be sold to Los Angeles-based Private Capital Partners, a private equity firm. Claim Jumper attributed its financial problems to the recession's blow to "casual dining."
