Civilian 911 Response

SAN FRANCISCO — A husband and wife who were violently attacked by a murderer when they checked on their neighbor at the request of law enforcement cannot sue police for damages and are only entitled to workers’ compensation, the Supreme Court of California ruled. The neighbor had whispered “help” on a 911 call, but a sheriff’s corporal told the couple the call was probably related to stormy weather.
