Circus Claims Elephant-Lovers Paid Bribes To A Professional Plaintiff

WASHINGTON (CN) - A circus company has filed a federal RICO complaint against five animal protection groups, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, claiming they used bribery, mail fraud and wire fraud to obstruct justice, "with the ultimate objective of banning Asian elephants in all forms of entertainment and captivity."

Feld Entertainment also sued the Animal Welfare Institute, The Fund for Animals, Tom Rider, the Animal Protection Institute, and the Wildlife Advocacy Project. Feld Tom Rider's sole source of income since 2001 has been bribes from the law firm of Meyer, Glitzenstein & Crystal and the other defendants to be a plaintiff in elephant litigation. Feld seeks an injunction and punitive damages. It is represented by Fulbright & Jaworski. See .
