(CN) - Medical workers working for the CIA committed "gross breach of medical ethics" by participating in the torture of terror suspects held in the CIA's secret foreign prisons, the International Committee of the Red Cross said in a report. The CIA doctors sometimes instructed torturers whether to stop or continue their abuses, including waterboarding, the Red Cross reported.
The secret Red Cross report was written in 2007 and was obtained by Mark Danner, The New York Times reported today.
President Obama ordered the CIA's secret prisons to be closed shortly after he took office.
