Church Floor Collapse Produces Class Action

VANCOUVER, B.C. (CN) - A woman who suffered a traumatic brain injury is a named plaintiff in a class action against the British Columbia Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Churches and Unite Productions less than a month after a floor collapsed during a Christian rock show at an Abbotsford church.

Sarah and Jennifer Williams claim in B.C. Supreme Court that the church wasn't meant to host concerts, and may have been in disrepair. Sarah Williams suffered a traumatic brain injury, and Jennifer Williams walked away with cuts, bruises and an injured left arm, the complaint states.

About 40 people were injured in the collapse, according to media reports; most were minor injuries. The plaintiffs are represented by R. Brian Webster.
