Church arrests raise questions

WORCESTER, Mass. — Four family members sued the city of Worcester and two police officers for malicious prosecution, false arrest, excessive force and assault after they were arrested inside a church in connection to a custody dispute. Some were arrested on reasonable grounds, while the reasons for arresting others might sustain a lawsuit. For example, the grandfather was arrested for disturbing the police because he loudly criticized an officer and called him a tyrant, but this is not disturbing the peace because it is not clear anyone other than the officers were disturbed by his comments.
