Christian Dior Lipstick Is Contaminated| With Lead, Class Action Claims

CHICAGO (CN) - LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) made and distributed millions of lipsticks contaminated with lead, including Christian Dior "Addict Positive Red," a class-action complaint claims in Federal Court.

Lead plaintiff Pamela Stella claims LVMH continues to sell the lead-contaminated lipstick at major retailers across the country. She says the average woman can consume as much as 4 lbs. lipstick in her life, and that the lead in LVMH products can cause grave harm, including birth defects.

Stella says the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics published a report that revealed the unsafe levels of lead in LVMH lipstick on Oct. 11. The report found .21 parts per million of lead in "Addict Positive Red: "more than twice the (U.S. FDA) accepted level of lead for products that are ingested."

Stella says she bought the stuff for $24.99 a tube. She demands punitive damages, medical testing for the class, and an injunction.

LVMH is an American subsidiary of the French corporation that also make Hennessy cognac, Dom Perignon champagne and Christian Dior perfumed and cosmetic. The plaintiffs are represented by Barrow & Associates. See complaint.
