China Releasing Kazakhs

This still made from video shows relatives of people missing in China’s far western region of Xinjiang hold up photos at an office of a Chinese Kazakh advocacy organization in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Dec. 7, 2018. Kazakhstan’s foreign ministry says that China is allowing more than 2,000 ethnic Kazakhs to give up Chinese citizenship and leave China, though it is unclear how many have already left. Activists say the releases come after mounting pressure on China due to international media attention. (AP Photo/Dake Kang)
