LOS ANGELES (CN) - An Ecuadorian man in Los Angeles was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for filming and photographing sexually explicit acts with a 9-year-old girl he babysat for two years, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles announced.
Freddy Paz, 46, was convicted in 2006 of continuous sexual abuse on a child under 14 and was sentenced to 16 years in state prison.
Paz babysat the victim for two years, investigators said, and abused her until she was 11.
Investigators also discovered that Paz had filmed his victim and owned more than 7,000 pornographic photos of other children.
The Justice Department authorized federal charges against him in 2007.
Paz pleaded guilty in May to criminal charges of producing and possessing child pornography.
U.S. District Judge John Walter called Paz a "monster" and sentenced him to 25 years in federal prison, to run consecutively to the 16-year state court sentence.
This means Paz will serve a minimum of 41 years in prison for both state and federal charges, the Attorney's Office said.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Los Angeles Police Department.
