Child Porn Fans|Sent Away for Years

SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) - A Huntington Beach man was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for trying to produce child pornography in the Philippines.

John McArthur, 57, was sentenced Friday afternoon. He pleaded guilty in May to attempted production of child pornography.

McArthur sent money to the Philippines to a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl, and told her, online, to use it to buy a camera and take sexually explicit photos of herself and an 11-year-old friend, prosecutors said.

Actually, McArthur had been chatting online with 75-year-old Robert Oliver Clark, who was posing as a young girl. Clark was arrested in September 2014 and has been sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

Clark admitted in his case that he "possessed, in his computer hard drive and in his email accounts, 5,443 images and 53 videos of child pornography, including 43 images and 1 video portraying sadistic or masochistic conduct and 16 images portraying toddlers," the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He sent "hundreds of images" to McArthur.
