Chicago Cops Beat, Tasered & Pepper Sprayed|Black Citizens On Election Night, Dozens Say

CHICAG0 (CN) - In unwarranted drive-by attacks, Chicago cops maliciously Tasered, pepper sprayed and beat two dozen black citizens as they celebrated Barack Obama's victory on Election Night, the Chicagoans say in Federal Court. The 24 plaintiffs name nine Chicago PD officers who allegedly attacked them on the sidewalks and in their front yards, then falsely arrested some and filed false charges, which were dismissed.

It's the latest in a string of complaints accusing Chicago Police officers of racist brutality. The plaintiffs in this case say they have turned over a police baton and a can of pepper-spray to the City of Chicago Independent Police Review Authority. They say the defendants have or should have Police Observation Device video surveillance recordings of the attacks.

Individual plaintiffs and groups of plaintiffs seek relief for varying charges, such as false arrest, malicious prosecution and unlawful search. All plaintiffs demand damages for excessive force, battery, conspiracy and retaliation for their exercise of First Amendment rights.

Defendants include the City of Chicago, Officer Zinchuck, Star No. 3893; Officer Dugan, Star No. 4607; Officer L. Watkins, Star No. 17724; Officer Wazny, Star No. 11019; Officer Kroll, Star No. 14373; Officer Lacz, Star No. 15609; Officer Wyroba, Star No. 3152; Officer Frigo, Star No. 8585; Officer Little, Star No. 885; and Unknown Officers.
