Censured over transgender post

PORTLAND, Maine — A federal judge denied Republican Rep. Laurel Libby’s request to immediately restore her speaking and voting rights on the floor of the Maine House of Representatives after she was censured by House Democrats in February for a Facebook post that criticized a high school transgender athlete’s championship in girls’ track. House Speaker Ryan Fecteau, who said that Libby may have her rights restored if she apologizes for the post, is shielded by legislative immunity.
