Celeb Stylist Kim Vo Accused of Age Bias

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Three beauticians say they were fired from celebrity hair stylist Kim Vo's salon at the Mirage Hotel and Casino because they were over 40. Kim Vo was a judge on Bravo TV's "Shear Genius," and has styled the tresses of Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst, Teri Hatcher and Lara Flynn Boyle.

Plaintiffs Elena Prestigiacomo, 62, Donna Van Noller, 60, and Nuchjaree Srisook, 53, say they were all replaced by younger, inexperienced workers.

They claim in Clark County District Court that they were instructed to book call-in customers with employees younger than 40.

They also claim salon manager Salvatore Tangelo made discriminatory comments about them, including telling Van Noller to dress more like the younger girls and telling Srisook to get her buttocks to look younger.

The women also say Tangelo was friendly only to younger women, and would "only speak to plaintiffs when they spoke to him."

The women say they were fired in May and March 2008, and were replaced by employees younger than 40 with substantially less experience.

They seek back pay and damages. They are represented by Michael Balaban.
