CDC Removes Ebola Travel Notice in Mali

ATLANTA (CN) - Noting that the last Ebola patient in Mali tested negative over a month ago, with no subsequent cases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention removed a travel notice for the African nation.

Two incubation cycles of 21 days each have passed since the last patient in Mali had any contact with a person who was not wearing personal protective equipment, a CDC update dated Tuesday states.

The CDC said "travelers from Mali will no longer be required to undergo enhanced screening and monitoring when entering the United States."

Any Mali travelers who arrived in the United States before Jan. 6, however, "must continue active monitoring and report any symptoms for 21 days after leaving Mali," the CDC added.

The CDC said Level 3 warnings, which advise against "nonessential travel," remain in effect for Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
