Cattle Ranchers Sue Over Malheur

PENDLETON, ORE. (CN) - The National Marine Fisheries Service and U.S. Forest Service failed to provide accurate biological assessment of the impact of livestock grazing in MalheurNational Forest on the Middle Columbia River Steelhead, cattle rancherssay in Federal Court. Cattle grazing would not reallydevastate protected habitat for threatened species in at least 13 areas, including the John Day River, the suit states, national forest areasthat should be used for cows.
