Casey’s June Beetle Endangered

WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S Fish and Wildlife Service plans to list Casey's June beetle as endangered under the Endangered Species Act and also proposes to designate critical habitat in south Palm Springs and Riverside County, California.

Casey's June beetles are restricted to only two populations in the southern part of Palm Springs. Remaining habitat is roughly 600 acres in approximately nine fragments and is actively declining as urban, residential, and recreational development degrades the sandy slopes of the beetle's habitat.
