Carnival Corp. Accused Of Enslaving Woman

MIAMI (CN) - Carnival Corp. enslaved a South African woman, confiscated her passport and put her to forced labor on a cruise ship, Reshma Harilal claims in Federal Court in Miami.

Harilal claims she traveled from her homeland to Florida, on Carnival's promise to pay her $750 a week as a stateroom stewardess, but on arrival this month, Carnival offered her only $125 to $150 a week, refused to return her passport, enslaved her and forced her through threats of physical harm to work on board the ship.
