Caregivers for Seriously Injured Vets Get Benefits

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Department of Veterans Affairs has issued regulations for a new caregiver benefits program.

This rule implements Title I of the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act, signed into law May 5, 2010.

The program is meant to provide certain medical, travel, training, and financial benefits to caregivers of certain veterans and servicemembers who were seriously injured in the line of duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001.

The regulations became effective May 5, 2011.
