BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CN) - A federal judge approved a settlement of a class action against Capital One Bank for imposing new and increased "miscellaneous account fees" without notifying customers after buying North Fork Bank.
Lead plaintiff Eric Gunther had sued the bank in July 2009 for $5 million in compensatory damages.
The settlement figure is not mentioned in the order from U.S. District Judge Arthur Spatt, except for an award of $750,000 for attorney's fees and a $7,500 class representative incentive award.
